• PGX Proprietary Blend (fiber component):    Konjac Mannan is part of this proprietary blend.  It is a soluble fiber, that forms a gel in the stomach, slowing down gastric emptying and giving people a feeling of fullness.  This fiber also helps to stabilize blood sugar, and prevent a high release of insulin right after a meal.  While you can find this fiber in some fruits and vegetables, it is developed for supplement use to get all the fiber without the calories.  Laminaria digitata, from brown algae, and Xanthan gum seem to be important to stabilize the product and help the shake to thicken up when it is prepared.
• Whey Protein Concentrate

            Although Whey protein is derived from milk, some people with milk allergies may not have a problem with whey.  Most milk allergies are caused by the Casein in the milk.  The amino acids found in the whey protein concentrate can be beneficial to weight loss, muscle growth, and appetite control.  The Branched Chain Amino Acids found in whey, such as leucine, has also been found to help recovery after stressful exercise.

• Stevia and Xylitol

            These natural sugars have a very low impact on blood sugar compared to table sugar.  This is a great thing to put in a weight loss shake.  You can get a good amount of sweetness out if these, without the high insulin response that contributes to fat storage.

• Vitamins and Minerals

            This product is full of vitamins such as A, C, D, E, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B6, folate, and B12.  It also has minerals like calcium, iron, phosphate, iodine, magnesium, zinc, chromium, and more.  These vitamins are not 100% RDA, but I like that in a product.  You shouldn’t be getting 100% through supplements.  With a healthy diet, toxicity is a risk. So I believe that is a positive thing to not be 100%, especially in the fat soluble vitamins.
